Middle Corridor Will Strengthen Turkey's Position

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu met with business people from Diyarbakır in Diyarbakır, where he came for a series of programs. Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that every new road constructed makes a significant contribution to employment, production, trade and cultural life. He underlined that they have invested 22 billion dollars in the country's transportation and communication infrastructure in the last 275 years, and explained that they also attach importance to international projects in this context. Explaining that the Development Road Project, which will connect the Persian Gulf to Europe via Turkey, is also a project of great importance, Uraloğlu continued his words as follows:

“With this project, we plan to ensure that the cargo coming from India, East Asia and the Persian Gulf countries to the FAV Port, which is being built in the south of Iraq, will reach Turkey by building a 200-kilometer two-way highway and railway. Thanks to this new international corridor starting from Iraq and coming to Turkey from Ovaköy, South Asia and the Middle East; We will connect Europe, the Caucasus and North Africa via a new route. We will also establish a vital connection for our region in the north-south corridor. Again, we know that the opening of the Zangezur Corridor, in addition to the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Line, is of critical importance in order to further strengthen the position of our country in the Central Corridor. Together with the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line, the Zangezur Corridor will further support the development of the middle corridor. We recently held the tender for the 224 km long Kars - Ararat - Dilucu section. "With the Ankara-Sivas High Speed ​​Train Line, which we put into service last year, and the Sivas-Erzincan-Erzurum-Kars railway projects planned later, the railway connection between Dilucu and Ankara will be provided."

“57 Billion TL Investment”

Uraloğlu pointed out that Diyarbakır is one of the most important production and export centers of the region and emphasized that, as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, they invested 57 billion 652 million liras for the transportation and communication infrastructure of Diyarbakır. Uraloğlu also stated that they increased the length of the divided road from 44 kilometers to 456 kilometers, and the length of the bituminous hot mixture coated road from 2 kilometers to 285 kilometers, and that they have put into service many important highway projects such as Diyarbakır-Mardin Road, Diyarbakır-Şanlıurfa Road. Minister Uraloğlu also underlined that they are continuing 15 separate highway projects in Diyarbakır with a project amount of 618 billion 12 million liras.

“75 Percent Progress in Elazığ-Diyarbakır High Speed ​​​​Train Line”

Uraloğlu also mentioned that they have made very important investments for the development of Diyarbakır in other types of transportation such as airline and railway, and explained that they renewed the entire railway network of Diyarbakır and connected the Diyarbakır Organized Industrial Zone to the railway network by making a junction line. Reminding that the study studies of the Elazığ-Diyarbakır High Speed ​​​​Railway project, which will connect Diyarbakır to Elazığ at a speed of 200 kilometers per hour, are continuing, Uraloğlu said, “We have made 75 percent physical progress, and we aim to be completed in September 2024. We are continuing our project work to transform the railway line, which is currently a single line, into a double line in the Ergani-Leylek-Diyarbakır-Bozdemir section, which has a length of 70 km. "We plan to finish the project work in June," he said.

“2 New Touristic Expeditions”

Minister Uraloğlu also noted that they plan to start the services of the two new tourist lines in April, which will be employed on the 'Ankara-Diyarbakır' and 'Ankara-Tatvan' routes, which will offer an alternative to the Touristic Eastern Express, and said, "The Ankara-Diyarbakır-Ankara Touristic Train, with a line length of 1.051 kilometers, will be launched on Friday, April 19. It will start its flights from Ankara at 15.55. On the 'Ankara-Diyarbakır' voyage, it will stop in Malatya for 3 hours, on the Diyarbakır-Ankara voyage, it will stop in Yolçatı for 4 hours and in Kayseri for 3 hours for tourism purposes. Our touristic train, which will be operated on the 1.262-kilometer Ankara-Tatvan-Ankara track, will start its services from Ankara on Wednesday, April 17.
