Interim Decision in Ankara YHT Accident Case: Discovery and New Expert Report

The trial of 13 defendants regarding the High Speed ​​Train (YHT) accident in Ankara on December 2018, 3, in which 9 people, including 107 drivers, died and 10 people were injured, continued.

Some undetained defendants and their lawyers attended the last hearing at Ankara 30th High Criminal Court.

The presiding judge stated that the report requested from the Forensic Medicine Institute's Traffic Specialization Department regarding whether the defendants were at fault in the accident was included in the file.

In the report, the defendant Osman Yıldırım, who lost his life during the trial phase and served as a train dispatcher on the date of the incident, was found to be at primary fault, the defendant Sinan Yavuz, the duty officer on duty, was at secondary fault, and YHT drivers Adem Yaşar and Hulusi Böler, who lost their lives in the accident, were at low level secondary fault. It was stated that guide machine machinists Kenan Günay and Kadir Ünal, who died in the accident, had no faults.

Lawyers of the parties objecting to the report requested a report from a new expert committee consisting of experts in their field and an investigation at the scene of the accident.

Announcing its interim decision after the statements, the court decided to conduct an investigation at the scene of the accident and obtain a new expert report, and postponed the case to June 26.
