Historical Step from Putin: Moscow-St. Petersburg High Speed ​​Train Line Starts!

Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the high-speed train project, which will reduce the time between Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia's most important metropolises, to 2 hours and 15 minutes and will be a first in the country.

Russian leader Putin pressed the 'start' button of the project that will bring Moscow and St. Petersburg closer together, at the ceremony he attended via video conference from the Kremlin today.

Speaking at the ceremony, Putin underlined that Russia is mature enough in the fields of finance, economy and technology to implement this large and necessary project for the national economy.

Putin stated that domestic products and materials will be used primarily in the construction of the high-speed train line.

Russian Minister of Transport Vitaliy Savelyev underlined that with the opening of the high-speed train line, the travel time between Moscow and St. Petersburg will be reduced to 2 hours and 15 minutes. Currently, the journey between the two metropolises takes 4 hours with the Sapsan high-speed train.

The 679 km long line is planned to be completed in 2028 and put into service for the Russian people.

This route, which will be Russia's first high-speed train line, will have 16 stops, including Moscow and St. Petersburg. Trains on this line will reach speeds of 400 km per hour.

Trains will consist of 8 or 16 wagons, and tickets will be sold in 4 different classes, and trips will be organized every 10-15 minutes.

It is expected that 2030 million people will travel on this line in 23.

President Putin, in his annual speech to the Federal Assembly, talked about Moscow and St. He said that the first high-speed train line between St. Petersburg will pass through Tver and Veliky Novgorod, and then they plan to build lines extending to Kazan, Rostov-on-Don, Ural, the Black Sea coast, Minsk and other popular destinations.
