Historical Fountains Come to Life in Diyarbakır!

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality restored the historical fountains that succumbed to urbanization and enabled water to flow again.

With the restoration works initiated by the Department of Zoning and Urbanization, historical fountains in the city are being renewed while preserving their original structures.

The fountains, whose registration update and grouping work was carried out by the Department of Planning and Urbanization, Diyarbakır Cultural Heritage Preservation Regional Board Directorate, restored the Katırpınar, Yeşil and Tahtalı Kastal Street Fountains in the Sur district to their original state.

Diyarbakır Water and Sewerage Administration (DİSKİ) General Directorate made water connections to three fountains whose restoration was completed within the scope of the works carried out with the motto "Water is Drinkable from Fountains in Diyarbakır".

Following the work carried out, water began to flow from the historical fountains again after decades.
