High School Students from Adana will compete in Singapore with 'ALESTA'!

Adana Science High School students won the right to participate in the final to be held in Singapore with the autonomous underwater vehicle "ALESTA" they designed to contribute to marine mining and microbiology studies.

Students studying at Adana Science High School qualified to participate in the final to be held in Singapore with the autonomous underwater vehicle they developed, "ALESTA".

Under the supervision of the school's information technologies teacher İsmail Akdaş, 4 students started working on unmanned underwater systems in 2019.

The team, which reached 10 people with the participation of new students, developed an underwater vehicle that moves wirelessly and performs predetermined tasks with the help of artificial intelligence and camera-supported propellers. The ability to carry objects with robotic arms and distinguish colors with software has been added to the 35-kilogram vehicle, which is 45 centimeters wide, 35 centimeters long and 8 centimeters high and works with thrusters.

The project, which the team named "ALESTA", meaning "ready and alert" in maritime, won the "Most Original Software" award in addition to coming second in the "Unmanned Underwater Systems" competition organized by ASELSAN within the scope of TEKNOFEST 2023, and the "Most Original Software" award held in Baku the same year. It also came first in the "Steam Azerbaijan Festival".

The students, who sent the video of the project to the "Singapore AUV Challenge" where autonomous underwater vehicles will compete, passed the preliminary elimination as a result of the evaluation and were entitled to participate in the final to be held on 5-8 April.
