2nd Stage Distribution of Breeding Rams from Kocaeli… 500 Rams and 150 Goats Will Be Given

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality provides breeding ram support to producers within the scope of the "Breeding Ram Support Project" implemented to increase the productivity of sheep and goats. In the first phase of the 50 percent grant support, 75 Merino breed rams were delivered to producers last week.

In the second stage of the project, 123 rams were distributed to producers with a ceremony.

100 heads of Karacabey Merino breed and 23 heads of Curly breed rams, raised in the state breeding farm affiliated with the General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises (TİGEM) in Bursa's Karacabey district, were delivered to the producers who applied for the project by lottery.

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Hasan Aydınlık, Mukhtar Affairs Department Head Numan Balaban, Kocaeli Breeding Sheep and Goat Association President Mustafa Çakır, Izmit Chamber of Agriculture President Yusuf Karaaslan and small cattle breeders attended the distribution ceremony.

In his speech here, Deputy Secretary General Aydınlık said that, under the instructions of President Tahir Büyükakın, they provided serious support to farmers, agriculture and animal husbandry with the many projects they implemented. Stating that agricultural and animal production has increased in Kocaeli with the support of the Metropolitan Municipality, Aydınlık stated that they always support the farmers with lifeline projects and said:

“We have given breeding buffalo before. Now, we continue to support producers with the 'Breeding Ram Support Project'. We aim to increase the meat and milk productivity of local sheep and goats and improve animal herds by meeting the need for qualified breeders in small livestock farming. The rams were brought in healthy after all checks were made. Last week, in the first phase of the project, we delivered Merino breed rams to 75 producers. In line with the demands from the Breeding Sheep Goat Breeders Association, in the second stage, 100 heads of Karacabey Merino breed and 23 heads of Kıvırcık race rams will be given to producers with a 50 percent grant, again by lottery method. The project, in which a total of 500 rams and 150 goats will be given, attracted great interest from the producers. Stating that the support is very important to them, the growers thanked Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın, who is always with them. Kocaeli Breeding Sheep and Goat Association President Mustafa Çakır said that the breeders are very pleased with the breeding ram support of the Metropolitan Municipality. Stating that breeders have had great problems with breeding rams for many years and that they had to go to Bursa Karacabey and Bandırma to obtain them and that they suffered great difficulties, Çakır said, “Our Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality provided this service like a medicine to our farmers. “We hope that these projects will continue to be made more beautiful in the coming years.” said.
