KTO Hosted Minister Ömer Gülsoy

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, TOBB President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu reminded that he was the chairman of the Turkish side of the Turkey-Pakistan bilateral joint chamber and said, “We have carried out many productive works together. Under his leadership, we broke records in export volume despite the recession in the world. “Our share in world markets has exceeded 1 percent for the first time.” said.

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that Minister Bolat pioneered the preparation and implementation of regulations for the effective and healthy functioning of the domestic market and said, “In this way, order and order came to the new and second-hand automotive markets, for example. We have witnessed over the years the importance he attaches to dialogue and consultation. Now we see the same visionary and determined approach in the ministry role. "We find this approach of our minister very valuable in terms of solving the problems experienced by our sectors," he said.

Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat informed the joint council with a comprehensive presentation regarding the work of 2023. Bolat stated that some countries export with dumping and origin diversion and said, “There are countries that try not to buy our products, create customs barriers and non-tariff barriers. At this point, we are not in the position of docile sheep. We implement an active trade policy regarding countries and their products that harm our domestic and national production and do business contrary to the World Trade Organization rules, and we will continue to do so. " said.

In his speech at the joint council meeting, KTO President Ömer Gülsoy drew attention to Israel's oppression in Gaza and pointed out that a permanent ceasefire should be established so that the Islamic world can welcome the month of Ramadan in peace.

Gülsoy emphasized that competitive conditions in the global economy have become tougher with climate change and other developments. Noting that Turkey is focusing on the fight against inflation, Gülsoy said, “We see that the monetary tightening policies implemented by our economic management with the aim of reducing inflation will lead to a significant slowdown. He considers this process as a temporary difficulty that we, as a country, must experience in order to see better days in the economy. "We believe that we will get through it together," he said.

Gülsoy pointed out that the demand for qualified labor is increasing day by day and said, “We need qualified labor in all sectors, from textile to shoes, from transportation to construction. We need to support vocational education with some advantages in order to direct our children to receive education in the fields needed by the real sector. "One of these is to ensure that vocational high school graduates do paid military service free of charge or are exempt from military service," he said.

Among the issues raised by KTO President Gülsoy, representing the trade sector, were the following:

-In the application of Value Added Tax, since the different rates applied in the purchase and sale of products in some sectors create a transaction burden for businesses, cause confusion and increase informality, the application of different rates in purchases and sales should be abandoned and single-rate VAT should be applied,

-Eliminating the problems experienced in VAT refunds,

-Solving the visa problems experienced by both business people and transportation businesses, facilitating visa obtaining procedures,

-In practices aimed at the real sector, there is no discrimination between tradesmen and merchants, and the business world is evaluated as a whole,
