IETT, which has the biggest role in Istanbul's public transportation, rewarded 124 more drivers who showed superior success in many criteria.
IETT, which carries out up to 5 million trips per day via Bus, Metrobus, Nostalgic Tram and Historical Tunnel, rewards its drivers who demonstrate outstanding success in their work.

Captain drivers, who were entitled to receive awards from 9 out of 9 categories in the program, were personally rewarded by İETT General Manager İrfan Demet.
Speaking at the program, IETT General Manager İrfan Demet stated that IETT captain drivers made a great effort for Istanbul, underlined that one of the most important and difficult professions in Istanbul is public transportation drivers, and thanked the captain drivers who did their duty properly and were deemed worthy of the award. he stated.
İETT General Manager İrfan Demet continued his words as follows; “As you all know, our city Istanbul has been the capital of civilizations and empires and is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. While it is a chance to live in this city, it is equally meaningful and proud to be able to serve this city.
We, as IETT employees; We make great efforts to ensure that Istanbulites can reach any point they want by public transportation at any time of the day.
In our beautiful Istanbul, which connects the continents and has hosted civilizations, as IETT, in 1 day; We make 800 thousand trips on 55 different lines. We cover a distance large enough to circle the Earth 1 times in 32 day. Thanks to this effort, we make up to 1 million 4 thousand trips in one day.
When we express these as numbers, perhaps it is not fully understood how great a service it is.
Our IETT drivers start the day around 03.00:05.30. After making all their preparations, they depart for their first flight around XNUMX. Sometimes they work for Istanbul in the summer heat, sometimes on a snowy winter day, sometimes on a holiday morning.
During these times they spend away from their families, the people of Istanbul become their families.
Of course, providing this service in a giant metropolis like Istanbul requires great patience, training and discipline. I believe and see that our IETT captains have all these features. And some of them make us proud with their outstanding achievements.
We are here with you today on this occasion. We reward our outstanding captains with our award ceremony, which we started in January 2023 and will be held for the 3rd time today.
We have a total of 9 categories: Helpful, Polite, Careful, Patient, Respectful, Friendly, Reliable, Presentable and Meticulous.
So far, 345 different captains have been entitled to receive 630 awards from these categories.
Today, our 124 captains will earn 144 tags from different categories. I congratulate all of them in advance for their outstanding achievements. Of course, there is another issue here. To receive awards from 9 out of 9 categories. Of course, it is not easy to achieve this in such a difficult task. However, it is not impossible.
Our 3 captains have already succeeded in 9 of these 9 categories and managed to earn labels. And I believe that all our captains will find a place in the hearts of Istanbulites and will be entitled to come here and receive these awards.
