'Green Transformation Focused' Program Support Call from TÜBİTAK

The successful teams within the scope of the "GCIP Turkey 2023 Accelerator Program", with the aim of transforming solutions in the field of clean technology into enterprises and increasing the number of existing enterprises, as well as preparing clean technology entrepreneurs for the national and global markets, were awarded at a ceremony held in Ankara.

In his speech here, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır pointed out that Turkey, as a country, has a pioneering approach in the fight against climate change. Noting that the 'Zero Waste Project' carried out under the auspices of First Lady Erdoğan are concrete examples of the approach, Minister Kacır said, “We continue our work to implement an emission trading system compatible with the carbon regulation at the border in our country. We have also started the process of harmonizing our national policies and programs with the European Green Deal. "By strengthening our green transformation infrastructure and developing the technologies we will need with domestic and national resources, we will continue our country's growth journey in the investment, employment, production and export route in the Turkish Century." he said.

Providing information about the supports provided, Kacır said, "With the incentives we provided for renewable energy, energy efficiency and environmental investments, we have paved the way for 2017 thousand 637 investments with an investment size exceeding 10 billion liras since 535." he said.

Emphasizing that the share of renewable energy resources in the total electricity installed capacity has reached 55 percent, Kacır explained that they have recently increased their cooperation with international financial institutions to support green investments. Kacır stated that through the "Decarbonization Roadmaps for the Steel, Aluminum, Cement and Fertilizer Sectors" prepared with the contributions of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, they determined the applicability of alternative technologies, expected emission reductions, the size of the required investments and the policies to be implemented in these strategic sectors.

SECTORAL ROAD MAPS

Pointing out that they offer a perspective for the future by developing "sectoral road maps", Kacır said that in order to accelerate the transformation of organized industrial zones (OIZs) into green OIZs, they launched the World Bank-supported "Turkey Organized Industrial Zones Project" and the "Turkey Green Industry Project". reminded me of what they received.

Minister Kacır stated that they initiated the "Entrepreneurship Support Program (BiGG) Green Growth Calls" for green growth and offered support of up to 900 thousand liras to entrepreneurship projects, and that they enabled the implementation of 237 initiatives on priority R&D and innovation that serve green growth within the scope of the calls. Emphasizing that they support entrepreneurs with the Global Clean Technologies Entrepreneurship Program, Kacır said, "In the second phase of the program, which we launched last year, 91 teams selected from 28 applications were entitled to participate in the mentoring and acceleration training." said.
