Sivas Governor Yılmaz Şimşek met with members of the press at Yıldız Mountain Winter Sports Tourism Center, which opened the ski season. Governor Şimşek received a briefing about the latest situation of the ski resort from Buruciye AŞ General Manager Mustafa Altun.
Stating that Yıldız Mountain is the rising value of Sivas, Şimşek said, “We have started our ski season. Currently, our facility has reached 100 percent occupancy. We have opened the season at full capacity. “Hopefully, we will have a productive season without any accidents or trouble.” said.
Governor Şimşek explained that the ski season started late in recent years and said, “Our ski resort is 58 kilometers away from the city center and has been serving our citizens since 2016. Our center is strengthening its position every day. “So far, we have hosted visitors from 10 countries and 45 provinces.” he said.
Stating that Yıldız Mountain Ski Center increases the brand value of Sivas, Governor Şimşek said, “The people of Sivas should benefit from this facility as much as possible. We also have projects that we will implement here. We want more of our young people and athletes to be introduced to skiing. First of all, tourists who come to Yıldız Mountain should have the opportunity to visit the cultural riches of the city, which was the capital of the Seljuks. Our most important advantage is the High Speed Train, which was put into service last year, and thanks to this, faster transportation to our city is now possible from Ankara and the provinces on that route.” he said.
Şakir Öner Öztürk, Secretary General of the Special Provincial Administration, stated that Yıldız Mountain Winter Sports Tourism Center is one of the most important investments of Sivas and said, “Sivas is one of our provinces that can be considered the capital of nature and cultural tourism, and it makes a significant contribution to winter tourism with its ski facilities. ” he said.
Hakan Akkaş, Chairman of the General Assembly, stated that Yıldız Mountain Ski Center is an important facility that serves not only Sivas but also the surrounding provinces, and said that our center has a significant potential.
