Samsun's Divided Road Length Increased to 313 Kilometers

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu and General Director of Highways Ahmet Gülşen came to Samsun on Wednesday, February 28, and received information about the ongoing City Hospital Connection Roads and Yeşilkent Junction and examined the works on site.

Uraloğlu said that the only goal of the infrastructure investments projected from east to west, north to south of our country is to increase the standard of living of our people by strengthening the safe and comfortable transportation network of the cities.

“We Invested 73 Billion 391 Million TL for Samsun”

Stating that the length of Samsun's divided road has increased to 313 kilometers, Minister Uraloğlu said, “Samsun, which started to develop rapidly with the commissioning of the Black Sea Coastal Road as a divided road, has become a center of attraction with traffic density increasing day by day both in the city and in transit transportation. For this reason, we are producing new projects and realizing huge investments depending on Samsun's growth rate and increasing traffic density. Since 2002, we have invested approximately 73 billion 391 million lira for Samsun's transportation and communication infrastructure. We increased the length of the divided road from 120 kilometers to 313 kilometers, and the length of the bituminous hot mixture paved road from 119 kilometers to 375 kilometers. There were 3.752 bridges with a length of 55 meters, and we increased this to 17 bridges with a length of 200 meters. We plan to build 123 more bridges with a length of 421 meters by the end of this year. Samsun had a single tunnel of 4 meters length, we added 553 more tunnels of 2 thousand 325 meters length. While the construction of the City Hospital Connection Roads and Yeşilkent Junction, which we will examine here today, continues, the work of 2 separate highway projects such as Samsun-Bafra and Samsun Ring Road Bituminous Hot Mix Repair, Havza-Vezirköprü Road, Çarşamba-Ayvacık Road, Ladik-Taşova Road continues. " he said.

“City Hospital Roads will be connected to the Ring Road at Two Points”

Minister Uraloğlu also gave information about the two ongoing transportation projects in Samsun, which will ease the urban vehicle traffic when completed, and said that they will connect Samsun to the Kavak State Highway and then to the Samsun Ring Road with Yeşilkent Junction; He stated that this intersection, located in the Ankara-Istanbul connection of the Central and Eastern Black Sea Region, is also located at the transition point between Atakum and İlkadım, the central districts of Samsun, and that the heavy traffic experienced here will be alleviated with the intersection arms and the traffic load will be reduced.

Touching on the details of the project, Uraloğlu continued his words as follows; “The project includes 2 172-meter-long underpass bridges, 2 318-meter-long additional bridges and 1 29-meter-long overpass bridge. “We also carry out the repair and construction works of 9 kilometers long intersection branches.”

Stating that the construction of the Samsun City Hospital, which Samsun and the Black Sea Region need in the field of healthcare, and the construction of the connection roads are carried out simultaneously, Uraloğlu shared the following information about the connection roads: “We designed our road to be connected to the Samsun Ring Road from two points. We are building our 5,3 km long road as a 2x3 lane divided road with bituminous hot mixture standard. Within the project; There is also 1 different-level intersection and a 204-meter-long bridge within the intersection. We aim to complete 1 kilometers of our road this year.”

Giving the good news that they have included the Samsun Western Ring Road in the investment program, Uraloğlu stated that they aim to hold its tender in 2024, and thus, they will implement transportation projects one by one, which will pave the way for investments that will develop Samsun's tourism activities, agriculture and industry, and continue new ones.
