Minister Uraloğlu visited Kemalpaşa Logistics Center in Izmir today. Making a statement, Uraloğlu stated that the logistics sector is the fundamental dynamo of the integrated world economy and international trade.

Uraloğlu stated that Turkey is located at the intersection of three continents, Asia, Europe and Africa, and that it is in a much more advantageous position than other countries with its geopolitical location.

WE CAN REACH 4 COUNTRIES WITH A 67-HOUR FLIGHT TIME

Uraloğlu said, “Our country is not only located in the east-west corridor on the Silk Road, but also in the middle of the north-south corridors extending from the Caucasian countries and Russia to Africa. With a 4-hour flight time, we can reach 1,4 countries where approximately 8 billion people live and a trade volume of 600 trillion 67 billion dollars. “We are literally a logistics center on a global scale.” said.

Uraloğlu said that 22 billion dollars have been invested in Turkey in the last 250 years to improve the transportation infrastructure and complete the missing connections on international transportation routes.

Stating that they plan to reduce the 2053 percent freight transportation share on highways by 72 percent in line with the 57 targets, Uraloğlu stated that they aim to increase the transportation share of railways from 5 percent to 22 percent.

WE AIM TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF LOGISTICS CENTERS IN OUR COUNTRY FROM 13 TO 26

Uraloğlu also said that since 2002, “Halkalı Istanbul, Köseköy-Kocaeli, Gelemen-Samsun, Kars, Palandöken-Erzurum, Gökköy- Balıkesir, Hasanbey-Eskişehir, Uşak, Kaklık-Denizli, Kayacık-Konya, Yenice-Mersin, Türkoğlu- Kahramanmaraş and Andaval Freight Center; “We opened 13 logistics centers for operation.” said.

We aim to increase the number of logistics centers in our country from 2053 to 13 by 26.” he said.

INFRASTRUCTURE WORKS OF 1,3 SQUARE KILOMETERS OF KEMALPAŞA LOGISTICS CENTER HAVE BEEN COMPLETED

Explaining the work done at Kemalpaşa Logistics Center, Uraloğlu said, “In the first stage, we have completed the infrastructure works of 3 square kilometers of our center, which has an area of approximately 1,3 square kilometers, including the expansion areas. “We will keep the remaining parts as reserves and expansion areas.” said.

KEMALPAŞA LOGISTICS CENTER WILL ADD GREAT VALUE TO OUR IZMIR

Uraloğlu said that Kemalpaşa Logistics Center is capable of serving not only the Izmir surroundings, but also Western Anatolia and all of Turkey with its Izmir Alsancak, Aliağa Port connections and, in the future, Çandarlı Port connections, and made the following statements:

“It encourages combined transportation, improves container loading and unloading activities, prevents the use of Alsancak Port area as a container stock area, moves dangerous container parking areas within the city to the region, reduces truck and truck circulation, increases railway transportation, and operates in customs and logistics services.” We believe that Kemalpaşa Logistics Center will add great value to Izmir due to reasons such as increasing speed and efficiency and reducing operating costs.”

LOCAL CONTAINER DEMAND WILL EXCEED 2040 MILLION TEU AFTER THE 5s

Stating that the total road transportation on the corridor where Kemalpaşa Logistics Center is located is approximately 25 million tons per year, Uraloğlu said, “When we include the transportation that is outside the corridor and can be associated with Kemalpaşa OIZ, the road transportation potential is 35 million tons in total. We think that the average local container demand will be 2025 million TEU in 2.3, and the level of 2040 million TEU will be exceeded after the 5s.” he said.

KEMALPAŞA LOGISTICS CENTER WILL BE AN IMPORTANT CENTER FOR REGIONAL TRADE

Uraloğlu stated that Kemalpaşa Logistics Center has access to more than 70 industrial zones, as well as all of Izmir's ports, within a distance of approximately 15 kilometers as the crow flies; He stated that the location selection of the logistics center clearly shows its consistency.

Uraloğlu pointed out that Kemalpaşa Logistics Center is directly connected to all transportation infrastructure serving the region and said, “It is 29 kilometers to Izmir city center by highway, 49 kilometers to Adnan Menderes Airport by road, 71 kilometers to Alsancak Port by train, and Menemen by railway.” “It is 72 kilometers away.” said.

Uraloğlu also stated that Kemalpaşa Logistics Center can be connected to the planned logistics center by all state roads, as well as Ankara, Istanbul, Çanakkale, Antalya highways and conventional and under-construction YHT railways.

Stating that Kemalpaşa Logistics Center is currently connected to the junction line and the conventional line between Ankara and İzmir, Uraloğlu said, “When the Ankara İzmir high-speed train line is completed, a product in the Kemalpaşa Logistics Center will be able to reach Ankara and İzmir faster.” said.

Noting that the logistics center will be an important center not only for Izmir but also for the trade of cities in the hinterland such as Manisa, Denizli and Aydın, Uraloğlu said, “There are already many factories, manufacturing facilities and warehouses in our region. This project will enable new investments and the establishment of new factories and companies for Izmir and will bring new employment opportunities for the people of Izmir. The logistics sector will also change the route to Kemalpaşa.” he said.
