The Village Theaters Festival, organized for the second time between 7-70 February by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Village Theatres, consisting of volunteer participants from 5 to 10 people from the villages of Izmir, will start with the play "I Found Myself on the Road". Throughout the week, workshops, exhibitions, seminars and talks, as well as plays by village theaters, will be presented to the audience free of charge.
Touching the lives of rural people with nearly 11 participants at 200 locations in Izmir, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Village Theaters, "2. It invites art lovers to the magical world of theater with the "Village Theaters Festival". The festival will meet its audience with workshops, interviews, film screenings and plays at Kültürpark İzmir Art Center between 5-10 February. On Monday, February 5, 2024, at 16.30, there will be the opening of the IzBB Village Theaters Photography Exhibition and the documentary screening of "Ulamış Village Theater" at 17.30, followed by an interview with film director Berkay Taşkan. The play "I Found Myself on the Road" by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Ulamış Village Theater will meet the audience at 20.00 on the opening day. On the same night, the play "Muhtar Oyu'nu" written by Gülsüm Güldüren, one of the participants of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Village Theatres, will take the stage.
Guest of honor Urla Bademler Village Theater
Urla Bademler Village Theatre, which is the pride of Izmir as Turkey's first village theater and celebrates its 90th anniversary this year, will be the guest of honor of the festival. People of Izmir will participate in the conversation themed "Life and Art in the Village", with the participation of actress Doğa Rutkay within the scope of the festival; Neptün Soyer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Izmir Village Coop Union, Prof. on behalf of the New Generation Village Institute Members Association. Dr. Kemal Kocabaş and anthropologist Prof. Dr. Emine Onaran will have the opportunity to listen to İncirlioğlu.
The workshop programs that will take place every day at the festival include theater artist Aysel Güzel's "The Player Within Me" and Özgür Ulvi Adiloğlu's "Catch Your Rhythm" dance rhythm work. In the seminar section of the festival, “Sustainable Theatre;” with the presentation of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Village Theaters General Art Director Vedat Murat Güzel. The presentation themed "İZBB Village Theatres" can be watched.
Another guest of the festival is the movie "Our Kövde Şenlik Vaa", shot in Seferihisar and directed by Uğur Alparslan. Within the scope of the festival, 6 teams from İZBB Village Theaters and the guest of honor Bademler Village Theater will perform free of charge every evening for 9 days. The games will meet the people of Izmir at Kültürpark Izmir Art Center.
