Israel's Gaza Plan Revealed

According to the plan, Israel will control security in the region indefinitely and Palestinians who are not affiliated with groups hostile to Israel will govern the region. The United States, Israel's biggest ally, wants the West Bank-based Palestinian Authority to govern Gaza after the war. However, the Palestinian Authority is not mentioned at all in the document that Netanyahu presented to ministers on Thursday night.

According to the plan, Israel will maintain security control over all lands west of Jordan, including the occupied West Bank and Gaza, where Palestinians want to establish an independent state.

In his list of long-term goals, Netanyahu rejects “unilateral recognition” of a Palestinian state. He says a solution with the Palestinians can only be reached through direct negotiations between the two parties; However, it is not specified who the Palestinian side will be.

Netanyahu's medium-term goals for Gaza are disarmament and prevention of radicalization. It does not provide detailed information about when this intermediate phase will begin or how long it will last. It envisages the complete demilitarization of the Gaza Strip for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, which was largely destroyed due to Israeli attacks.

According to the plan, after the war ends, Gaza's civilian affairs will be handled by local officials who "have administrative experience" and "have no connection to countries or organizations that support terrorism."

Netanyahu proposes cooperation with Egypt and the United States to prevent the presence of Israeli forces on the Egyptian border south of Gaza and smuggling attempts, including at the Rafah border crossing.

It also calls for the closure of the United Nations (UN) Palestinian refugees agency, UNRWA, and the establishment of other international aid groups in its place.

In the statement made by the Prime Minister's office, the following statement was used for Netanyahu's plan: "The Prime Minister's document of principles reflects a broad public consensus on the goals of the war and the replacement of the Hamas administration in Gaza with a civilian alternative."

The document was distributed to members of the war cabinet to initiate a discussion on the issue.
