Manisa General Directorate of Water and Sewerage Administration (MASKİ) made a statement against misleading statements and news about incomplete data about water prices, which have been occupying the public in recent days. The following statements were included in the information provided by MASKİ:
“Our MASKİ General Directorate is trying to be presented as the Metropolitan Municipality with the highest water price among the 30 Metropolitan Municipalities that have been occupying the public in recent days. In the statements made by some political party representatives and the news in the media, only water and wastewater costs were taken into account by using incomplete data. However, in addition to these two costs, water bills also include maintenance fees, ÇTV, garbage collection and disposal fees, VAT and other fee items. Taking these costs into account, Manisa ranks 1th in the February water bill comparison of 30 Water and Sewerage Administrations of 2024 Metropolitan Municipalities, based on the cost of 15 cubic meter of water. The evaluation was made according to the 1st Group, which has the highest wage tariff. Considering other groups, Manisa is ranked much lower. Our citizens pay all water bills, not just water and wastewater charges. Therefore, the comparison must be made taking into account all costs.”
NOT ONLY WATER AND WASTE WATER BUT ALL CHARGES ARE REFLECTED ON THE INVOICES
Water bills do not only consist of water and wastewater prices. In this context, it is not correct to reflect the missing data to the public without adding the line maintenance and operation fee, which MASKİ stopped collecting from the water bills on December 1, 2020, as well as other fee items. Instead of making a comparison by taking into account all the fees reflected in the invoices, how correct is the method to compare only two fee items and show the other fees as if they were not collected from the citizens?
