The new terminal building and apron construction of Kayseri Airport, which is the 2nd largest after Esenboğa Airport in the Central Anatolia Region, 11th in the number of passengers in Turkey and 7th in international passenger traffic, started on November 12, 2020. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that in addition to increasing the passenger capacity with the new area built on a total of 51 thousand square meters, the parking lot, transportation and comfort areas have also been adapted to the potential of the region.

Stating that the apron area of ​​Kayseri Airport was increased from 43 thousand square meters to 132 thousand 500 square meters, Minister Uraloğlu said, "In this way, by taking into account the developing tourism demand of Erciyes and Cappadocia in the coming period and the trade volume of the region, Kayseri, especially Kayseri, is the frontier of the region in terms of air traffic and transportation. "We have left behind an important obstacle," he said.

Minister Uraloğlu said that the new terminal building will serve as a common terminal building for domestic and international lines and added: “Our terminal will be put into service as soon as possible. The number of our aircraft also increased from 9 parking positions to 16 parking positions. Thanks to 6 passenger bridges in the new terminal building, passengers will be able to reach the new domestic and international terminal building uninterruptedly. "With the newly built open and closed parking areas, 831 vehicles will be able to benefit from the additional capacity of 1.311 vehicles at the same time," he said.
