The number of local and foreign tourists staying in Trabzon in 2023 increased by 38 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 1 million 319 thousand 299.
According to the data of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, 706 thousand 532 foreign tourists and 612 thousand 767 local tourists stayed in the city last year.
Compared to 466, when 644 thousand 489 foreigners and 454 thousand 2022 domestic tourists stayed in Trabzon, the number of foreign tourist accommodations increased by 51 percent and the number of domestic tourists increased by 25 percent.
In this context, the number of local and foreign tourists staying in the province in 2022, which was 956 thousand 98, increased by 38 percent to 1 million 319 thousand 299.
The most visitors to Trabzon were from Saudi Arabia, with 286 thousand 465 people. In the visitor rankings, Oman ranked second with 60 thousand 375, United Arab Emirates ranked third with 42 thousand 548, Kuwait ranked fourth with 42 thousand 425, and Jordan ranked fifth with 36 thousand 637 visitors.
451 Thousand 453 People Showed Interest in Sumela Monastery
Last year, 451 thousand 453 tourists visited Sumela Monastery, one of Turkey's important religious centers. There was a 33 percent increase in the number of tourists coming to the monastery compared to the same period of the previous year.
The number of accommodation facilities in the city, which was 2022 in 228, increased by 7 percent last year, reaching 244. The number of beds, which was 16 thousand 965, increased by 4 percent to 17 thousand 642.
International Flights Increased by 21 Percent
Last year, 66 thousand 3 flights were made to Trabzon from 856 countries. There was a 21 percent increase in the number of flights to the city compared to the same period of the previous year.
While 385 thousand 443 people came to Trabzon Airport international terminal last year, last year's number of passengers increased by 20 percent and reached 460 thousand 622.
