Target Export in Cereals is 14 Billion Dollars

Speaking at the press conference held at the Aegean Exporters' Associations, Muhammet Öztürk, President of the Aegean Grains, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters' Association, stated that they have created an intensive marketing calendar to reach the export figure of 2024 billion dollars from the Aegean Region for 1,2.

EXPORTS Across Türkiye HAVE DOUBLED AND TRIPLED IN THE AEGEAN REGION

Öztürk, who informed that the grains, pulses and oilseeds sector had an export figure of 10 billion dollars in Turkey 6,7 years ago, increased its exports approximately 2023 times and reached 2 billion dollars in 12,4, and said, "The 10-fold increase in 2 years is due to the political and economic developments experienced during this period." Considering the conditions, it is a serious indicator of the success of our industry. Our Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters' Association tripled its exports from 10 million dollars to 360 billion 1 million dollars in 68 years. "While we were in the 3th place in the export rankings among the 12 exporters' associations under the umbrella of EİB 10 years ago, we have risen to the 8th place today," he said.

Providing information about the sectoral breakdown of the Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters' Association's 2023 export performance, Öztürk continued his words as follows; “Our sub-sector to which we export the most is the vegetable oil sector with 476 million dollars, while the oil pulp, animal feed and pet food sector, which increased its exports by 32 percent, ranked second with exports of 162,5 million dollars. This sector of ours achieved a record increase of 10 thousand 2 percent in the 428-year period. It was another source of pride for us to make 60 percent of Turkey's exports in the pet food industry from the Aegean Region. We think that we will close the current deficit in this sector as soon as possible with the introduction of wet food investments that have accelerated in recent years in this sector, where we have a current account deficit. Our third sub-sector, to which we export the most within our union, is 4 million dollars, which increased by 592 thousand 93,2 percent in value compared to last year. It was the grain sector that reached the export figure. “The most important source of increase in our grain sub-sector is corn.”

Sharing that the oilseeds sector exported 84,3 million dollars and the chocolate confectionery products exported 83,3 million dollars, President Öztürk said, “Our exports are respectively; Cereal products with 50 million dollars; Food Preparations with $49 million; Milling Products with $26 million; Spices with $1 million; Confectionery Products with 25 million dollars; "Pulses exports amounted to 12,1 million dollars," he said.

2 TURQUALITY AND 1 URGE PROJECTS ARE COMING

Meanwhile, Öztürk noted that the US Turquality projects named "Turkish Tastes" are continuing successfully in the partnership of 6 food unions within the Aegean Exporters' Association and said, "With the participation of our exporting companies operating in the food sector within the Aegean Exporters' Associations, production is in line with the strategy put forward by the European Union within the framework of the Green Deal." We are carrying out the "Food Sustainability UR-GE Project" in order to improve our methods and ensure sustainability in production. We continue to work with our sector's exporter companies participating in this project to leave a more livable world to future generations. On the other hand, as the Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters' Association, we started the URGE Project in 2023, with the participation of 15 companies, in order to improve the international competitiveness of our sector. In 2024, we will have fairs, trade delegations and sectoral delegation activities for the target markets that we will determine in line with the needs analysis we will carry out within the scope of this project. By participating in the "Confectionery and Pastry Products Turquality Project", we plan to promote the sector in its target markets: the USA, Canada and Mexico. "On the other hand, we plan to carry out a series of promotional activities in the target markets of the sector, Russia, Iran and Indonesia, with the "Bulgur Product Turquality Project", which we plan to carry out jointly as sector associations," he said.
