Palestine Issue in Focus

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with the President of Iran, who paid an official visit to Turkey, at the Presidential Complex.

Later, after the 8th Meeting of the Turkey-Iran High Level Cooperation Council, which was held with the participation of the delegations of the two countries, the signing ceremony of various agreements began.

Reminding that Turkey sent more than 30 thousand tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza, President Erdogan said, "The Palestine issue is the focus of both Turkey and Iran." Stating that they attach importance to deepening relations with Iran on the basis of mutual trust and common interests, and that they confirmed this will once again during the meetings, President Erdoğan pointed out that the decisions taken within the scope of the council meeting are important not only for Turkey and Iran, but also for the stability and prosperity of the region.

Stating that progress has been made in the context of the annual trade target of 30 billion dollars with Iran, especially after the coronavirus outbreak, President Erdoğan said that they are aware of the need to run faster in this track, and that they discussed the steps to be taken in this context with the President.

“THE PALESTINE ISSUE IS IN FOCUS”

Pointing out that solving the problems faced by the business world will make a significant contribution to these efforts, President Erdoğan said, “We once again emphasized the importance of the increasing support of our neighbor Iran in the fight against terrorism. We touched upon the importance of further strengthening our cooperation against PKK/PYD/YPG and PJAK, which target the security of our countries and region. We signed 10 new agreements to improve our relations. In this way, we strengthened the contractual basis of our relations. We exchanged ideas with my dear brother, Mr. Reisi, about the latest developments in Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and the South Caucasus. The Palestine issue is in the focus of both Turkey and Iran. Our Foreign Ministers attended the session on Palestine held at the United Nations Security Council in New York yesterday. "They continued our efforts to ensure the security, welfare and future of our Gazan brothers." he said.

Reminding that Turkey has sent more than 7 thousand tons of humanitarian aid materials, including 26 thousand tons of flour, to Al-Arish since October 30, President Erdoğan said, “During our meetings, we wanted Israel's inhumane attacks on Gaza to end as soon as possible.” We discussed the need to take urgent steps towards the establishment of just and lasting peace. We reiterated our support for the just cause of Palestine and renewed our determination to continue our cooperation on this issue. "We agreed on the importance of avoiding steps that would further threaten the security and stability of our region." said.

Underlining that they will continue to work to move forward relations with Iran, which has been a neighbor for centuries, in line with the interests of the countries and the region, President Erdoğan wished that the Council meeting would be beneficial.

“The PALESTINE ISSUE IS THE FIRST ISSUE OF HUMANITY”

Emphasizing that the Palestine issue is the first issue of the Islamic world and humanity, President Reisi stated that the USA is responsible for all the crimes committed in Gaza with its support to Israel.

Stating that international organizations that failed to stop the attacks in Gaza, especially the United Nations (UN), have lost their function, President Reisi said, “We want a fair and new world order to come true. "The oppression committed by the Zionist regime against the oppressed and resistant people of Palestine has wounded the consciences of not only Muslim nations, but all the people of the free world." said.

Describing the attitude of the Turkish people and government against Israel's attacks in Gaza as "admirable", President Reisi said, "I would like to thank Turkish President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Turkish Government and the beloved nation of Turkey, which has always openly declared their support for the Palestinian people. ” he said.

After the press conference, President Erdoğan hosted a dinner in honor of the President of Iran, with the participation of delegations from both countries.
