Food Engineers in Bursa Renewed Confidence with 'Durmuş'

The 9th Ordinary General Assembly of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) Chamber of Food Engineers Bursa Branch was held at Bursa Academic Chambers.

The Presidency of the Council Board of the General Assembly held at BAOB Auditorium was BUU Food Engineering Department Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Made by Yasemin Şahan. Speaking at the opening of the General Assembly, Serkan Durmuş emphasized that Food Engineers Bursa Branch is a strong and effective chamber with its number of members and organized structure. Durmuş stated that they have been in a structure that protects the interests of their colleagues, produces solutions to problems and struggles for access to safe food since the day they took office.

Underlining that the epidemics, climate crisis, wars and disasters experienced in recent years have strongly demonstrated the importance of food security, Durmuş noted that they, as a chamber, have done their part in this regard and said that they want to continue their work by increasing their cooperation in the new period. Emphasizing that Bursa is an agriculture and food city as well as an industry and tourism city, Durmuş said, “In increasing the brand value of our city, the agriculture and food industry; Gastronomy and our geographically indicated products are of great importance in the development of gastronomy in terms of culture and tourism. We see this in increasing examples in recent years. "With this awareness, we are increasing our cooperation with city administrators," he said.

In his speech, Yaşar Üzümcü, Chairman of the Chamber of Food Engineers, shared the activities they carried out during his term of office.

Noting that food supply and security have gained great importance in the world due to the developments in recent years, AK Party Bursa Deputy Refik Özen said, “According to 2022 data, our country ranks first in Europe and tenth in the world in agricultural output. We are in a fortunate position in terms of agricultural production, food processing, climate and geopolitics. "As our President, relevant ministers and the parliament, we continue our work to become a self-sufficient country in agriculture," he said.

In the single-list elections, the new administration headed by Serkan Durmuş; Adem Zanbak, Ali Hakan Donduran, Ayla Gür, Gaye Göncü, Neslihan Yılmaz and Sadettin Kabakçı took part.
