Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık was nominated as the Beylikdüzü Mayor candidate for the second time by the Republican People's Party in the Local Government General Elections to be held on March 31, 2024. Mehmet Murat Çalık, who stands out as the first City Planner Mayor of Istanbul, implemented many projects prioritizing children, youth and women in the district with common sense, common effort and a non-partisan participatory approach during his term of office. Çalık has been working in Turkey with many projects such as the 'Valley of Life' focused on people and the environment, the 'Nutrition Hour' application implemented with the understanding of 'No child will go to bed hungry', and the 'Disaster Management Model' implemented with the slogan 'Resilient City Beylikdüzü' in order to minimize disaster risks. WHO IS MEHMET MURAT ÇALIK
Born in Trabzon Maçka in 1972, Mehmet Murat Çalık spent his primary and secondary school years in Trabzon's Maçka district. Completing his high school education at Trabzon High School, Çalık started his professional life after graduating from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Faculty of Architecture, Department of City and Regional Planning. Çalık, who has been operating in the field of planning with the company he founded in 1998, has undertaken important projects and works that have made a name for himself in the sector.
Çalık, who took part in many non-governmental organizations on professional and social issues, served as manager and vice president in various units at the Chamber of City Planners Istanbul Branch between 2008 and 2014. During these years, he took part in very important processes concerning Istanbul, defending the rights of the city and its citizens, as well as professional ethics and principles.
