Bahçeli: The National Will did what was required!

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, in his post on his social media account, made an evaluation about Can Atalay, the convict of the Gezi case, who was elected as Hatay Deputy from TİP, being stripped of his parliamentary seat by having the Supreme Court decision read in the Turkish Grand National Assembly yesterday.

Emphasizing that the final court decision was fulfilled, Bahçeli drew attention to the following in his post:

“The fair, equitable and law-based decision given by the 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Appeals about Hatay Deputy Şerafettin Can Atalay, who was convicted within the scope of the Gezi Park case, was read at the meeting of the Turkish Grand National Assembly yesterday, and thus, justice was served. The Republic of Türkiye is a state of law. The rule of law is binding on everyone. No one has the freedom to commit a crime, the privilege to protect the criminal, or the right to ignore a judicial decision by claiming a coup. It is the Constitutional Court that attempted to stage a coup against democracy, national peace and security. The Grand National Assembly of Turkey, which is the manifestation of the national will, rejected the tutelary, malevolent, prejudiced, politically lame and painful attitude of the Constitutional Court, which was promoted by the media power, and fulfilled the final court decision within the framework of the second paragraph of Article 84 of the Constitution.” said.

Congratulating the Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Bekir Bozdağ, for his brave, astute and uncompromising management, Bahçeli said in his post: “I also share my gratitude for his efforts to preserve and defend the dignity of the Gazi Parliament. Those who gather in front of the Presidential rostrum, bang on desk covers, boo our Parliament and are eager to demonstrate hatred and violence that suit them are the executioners of democracy who deserve to be condemned. The will of the nation has protected democracy and legal honor. Those who suggest a new travel provocation as a result of Şerafettin Can Atalay's loss of parliamentary membership are heedless. Those who address the streets and illegal resistance, and those who talk about taking any position against our country, are figures of hostility. No one should be the perpetrator of a mistake that will have very heavy costs and consequences. Turkey's surrender to anarchy and street language is just a crude dream. Respect for democracy and law is the fundamental responsibility of everyone, all of us. "Neither history nor the nation will forgive those who acted contrary to this responsibility in the grip of loss of consciousness," he said.
