16,3 Billion TL Appropriation for Mersin Adana Osmaniye Gaziantep High Speed ​​Train Project

Within the scope of the 2024 Investment Program, 16,3 billion TL was allocated for the high-speed train project aiming to connect the provinces of Mersin, Adana, Osmaniye and Gaziantep. This funding aims to complete the project and improve the transportation infrastructure of the region.

Within the scope of the project, a double-track, electrified and signaled high-speed railway line suitable for 160-200 km/h speed will be built between Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep. In this way, the current distance of 361 km will be reduced to 303 km and the travel time will be reduced from 6 hours 23 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes.

With the completion of the project, transportation in the region will be carried out more effectively and quickly. With the increased use of railways, traffic congestion and carbon emissions on highways will be reduced. In addition, the project is expected to reduce intercity logistics costs in the region.

The project has made significant progress so far. Mersin-Adana (67 km) section 3.4. Line section infrastructure works have been completed. 76 percent in infrastructure works in the Adana-İncirlik-Toprakkale (85 km) section, 58 percent in infrastructure works in the 13 km tunneled section of Toprakkale-Bahçe (75,83 km), 17 percent in the overall project in Bahçe-Nurdağ (- Fevzipaşa) (88 km). , Nurdağ-Başpınar (56 km) 80 percent physical progress was achieved in infrastructure works.

Within the scope of the Gaziray Project, a total of 2 km of new railway was built within the 2 km route, including 25,5 suburban lines and 112 high-speed and conventional train lines. It was reported that the remaining infrastructure, superstructure, electrification and signaling works of the project were tendered by the General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments (AYGM) on 14.07.2020 and the contract was signed on 14.08.2020.

With the completion of the project, the transportation infrastructure of the region will significantly improve and will make significant contributions to the economic and social development of the region.
