150-Year-Old 'Apiary' Became a Museum

Nilüfer Municipality, which expropriated and restored the historical building, which was thought to have been used as an 'apiary' 150 years ago, opened the place, which it organized as a museum, to visitors as the "Bee House".

Nilüfer Municipality restored the historical building in Ürünlü, which is thought to have been used as an 'apiary' 100-150 years ago, and gave it a new look. In the historical building, which was expropriated and restored, the history of honey and beekeeping is presented to visitors chronologically with text and visuals, while a part of the building was arranged to host various trainings, workshops and events for women and children in the region.

The opening of the Ürünlü Bee House was held with a ceremony with great participation. Nilüfer Mayor Turgay Erdem, Nilüfer Municipality Council Members, headmen, Bursa Literature and Art Association President Bülent Elitok and Board members, members of unions, associations and cooperatives operating on bee breeding and many citizens attended the opening.

At the opening ceremony, which was enlivened with the performances of the Nilüfer Folk Dance Group, Ürünlü Headman Kadir Beki thanked Nilüfer Mayor Turgay Erdem and his team for the project they brought to the region.
