Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) purchased 125 new vehicles to be used in combating harsh winter conditions. IMM President Ekrem İmamoğluexamined the vehicles exhibited at the institution's "Cebeci Road Maintenance Depot" on site. İmamoğlu, who received detailed technical information from IMM Deputy Secretary General Arif Gürkan Alpay, also met with his colleagues who will work in the fight against winter. Wishing his colleagues an accident-free and trouble-free working period, İmamoğlu also informed the public through a live broadcast on his social media accounts.

“WE REDUCED THE AVERAGE AGE FROM 11,5 TO 5,5”

"Winter maintenance is an important service period," said İmamoğlu, adding:

“1071 vehicles of our Road Maintenance team and Department will provide winter maintenance services this year. Of course, some of these vehicles are rental vehicles, and some are our own vehicles. Nearly 500 vehicles now belong to us. Our friends purchased 125 new vehicles and will especially support winter maintenance. Let me give you a number like this. The average age of our vehicles was around 11,5 and a half years, but now with the new purchases, this average age has decreased to 5,5 years. Our goal, especially in 2024, hopefully with the new era, will be to ensure that the service is provided after our vehicles are included in the process without the need for rental cars. One of the things I care about most about my friends' purchases is that our newly purchased vehicles are domestically produced. Having local production also makes us happy. In fact, the vehicles are domestically produced, and it is very valuable for us that many of the equipment of these vehicles, especially the snow plow devices described as 'knives', and their mechanisms are domestic.”

“WE ALSO NEED THE BLESSINGS OF WINTER”

“Again, the purchase of vehicles that carry out transportation, which we call 'long vehicles', was carried out with a similar domestic purchase status. In this context, it was a valuable job. Of course, we hope winter will do it justice. We also need the blessings of winter. Snowfall, like rain, is very important for Istanbul's nature, dams and water. Of course, we want it to go smoothly. Last year, we spent a winter period especially in solidarity with our citizens. Following the rules here is the first strategy of this business. But on the other hand, as you can see, with our thousands of employees and not only Road Maintenance but also our different institutions; We serve with a strong vehicle park, with the contributions of İSKİ, İETT and many other institutions. May these new vehicles be beneficial to our institution and Istanbul. I hope all our employees are accident-free, trouble-free, and serve our Istanbul with good services on beautiful days.”
