In Sivas, Turkey's most important sugar beet producer, the products of sugar beet producers remained in the fields. CHP Deputy Chairman and Sivas Deputy Karasu said that with the closure of the Bostankaya and Çetinkaya Beet Collection Centers, which collect sugar beets from farmers for the Malatya Sugar Factory, there was a transportation problem due to the incompetence of the factory managers and thousands of tons of beets remained in the field in Sivas.

Warning the government and its representatives harshly, Karasu said, "This grievance is the reason for those who could not even build a sugar factory in Sivas in 20 years, and who could not even protect the existing collection centers, never mind the factory." The problems of sugar beet producers in Kangal and Ulaş districts should be solved as soon as possible. "The highest quality beet of the region cannot be left to rot," he said.

Emphasizing that beet producers are victims, Karasu noted that the farmers were devastated when the farmer's product remained in the field due to Malatya Sugar Factory's incompetence.

Producers in Sivas, which is the most important sugar beet producer in our country, are experiencing great problems. The grievances of the sugar beet producers, whose production is decreasing day by day due to the privatization of sugar factories one by one, were also added to the suffering of the producers in Sivas.

TRANSPORTATION VEHICLES ARE NOT ARRIVING

CHP Deputy Chairman and Sivas Deputy Ulaş Karasu, who visited Kangalli beet producers, said, “Thousands of tons of sugar beet were left in the field in different villages of Kangal and Ulaş districts. "There is great suffering due to both the weather conditions in Sivas and the transportation and waiting time of the beet by our farmers," he said. Pointing out that the dates show mid-December and that heavy snowfall will begin in Sivas very soon, Karasu said:

“Despite this, thousands of tons of sugar beet are waiting for transportation in the villages in our Kangal and Ulaş districts. The main reason for this is the incompetence of Malatya Sugar Factory. Transport vehicles are not coming. Because the transport vehicles are waiting to be unloaded at the factory for 3-4 days. The factory cannot produce rows because there is no space left to dump the beets. Farmers cannot sell beet to another factory because they have a contract with Malatya Sugar Factory. How will the producer, who is already producing under difficult conditions and has difficulty with increasing input costs, plant beet next year? As the product waits in the field, he suffers greatly in terms of wastage. No one has the right to spoil the crops that our farmers have worked for and collected for a year!”

“INSTEAD OF OPENING A CAFE, HEAR THE VOICE OF THE NATION”

Warning the government and the ruling deputies harshly, Karasu said, “This victimization is the reason for those who could not even build a sugar factory in Sivas in 20 years, and those who could not even protect the existing collection centers, never mind the factory. If Bostankaya and Çetinkaya beet collection centers and weighbridges had not been closed, farmers would not have experienced these grievances today. The officials who said at the time, 'Farmers will not suffer any harm' and 'Farmers will not have any crops left in the fields', are speechless today. I am calling out to the representatives of the government from here; Instead of opening a cafe in Sivas, they should come and see the suffering of the farmers. Next year, how will farmers plant their fields again? The problems of sugar beet producers in Kangal and Ulaş districts should be solved as soon as possible. "The best quality beet of the region cannot be left in the field and left to rot."

Karasu, who has brought the issue to the agenda of the Turkish Grand National Assembly many times before, promised the producers that he would once again bring the grievances experienced by the farmers to the agenda of the Parliament.
