51 kilos and 750 grams of cocaine were seized on the Liberian-flagged Dry Cargo Ship named BERGE TORRE, which was anchored off the coast of Adana Yumurtalık in the Gulf of Iskenderun.

It was learned that the statements of 26 suspicious persons, including the ship captain, assistant captains and crew, were taken.

Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya announced the news and details about the operation on his social media account.

"Our ports are under close surveillance," said Minister Yerlikaya, adding that the Liberian-flagged ship anchored off the coast of Adana Yumurtalık in İskenderun Bay was carried out by the Adana Provincial Police Department's Anti-Narcotic Crimes Branch Directorate, Coast Guard Eastern Mediterranean Group Command and Mersin Customs Enforcement, Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate, under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security's Anti-Narcotic Crimes Directorate. He noted that a Narkoforce Operation was carried out on the dry cargo ship named Berge Torre.

Minister Yerlikaya stated that 2 kilos and 45 grams of cocaine were seized in 51 packages in 750 durable plastic bags, chained in the anchor chain space of the ship, and said in his post: “I congratulate our Police, Coast Guard and Mersin Customs Enforcement teams who carried out the operation. I kiss your eyes. May God not let stones touch your feet. "Our operations against poison traffickers all over our country will continue increasingly," he said.
