The first step was taken in the long-awaited Rail System Project in Trabzon. According to the decision signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and published in the Official Gazette, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure will undertake the Trabzon Rail System Project.
There has been a pleasing development in the Rail System Project, which is among the priority projects of Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Murat Zorluoğlu. With the decision signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Rail System Project was transferred to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. In the decision published in the Official Gazette, the "Decision on the Amendment to the Decision Concerning the Determination of the Conditions for the Acquisition, Acquisition, and Subsequent Transfer of Urban Rail Transportation Systems, Metros and Related Facilities by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure" was put into effect, numbered 655 in the Field of Transport and Infrastructure. "The decision has been made in accordance with Article 15 of the Decree Law on Some Related Regulations."

In his statement following the decision, Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Murat Zorluoğlu stated that he was happy to take the first step regarding the project and said, "Since it is not possible to carry out the Rail System Project, which is very important for our city, with municipal resources, it is very important for our Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure to undertake this work." It is a decision. Trabzon Rail System Project is now a project to be carried out by our state. The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure will start working on the Trabzon Rail System Project in a short time. Following its completion, its operation will be transferred to our Metropolitan Municipality. "We have been working with the dynamics of our city, professional chambers, public institutions, non-governmental organizations and members of parliament for 4 years for this project," he said.
