Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Women's Water Polo Team, which appeared on the European stage for the first time in its history, beat all the opponents it faced in the Challenger Cup and made it to the Final 6 group.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club, which participated in the European Cups for the first time in its history as the champion of the Water Polo Women's 1st League, became the first Turkish team to make it to the Final 6. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which is in Group B of the Challenger Cup Women's Competitions hosted by Strakonice, Czech Republic, beat the host AJF Strakonice 24-11 in the last match of its group and became the undefeated group leader. Our team, which closed the first period ahead 7-2 against AJF Strakonice, went into the half winning 11-5. Increasing the difference in the third period, our team won this quarter with a score of 17-8 and won the pool with a score of 24-11.
In the Challenger Cup, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality defeated the Portuguese representative Sport Lisboa Benfica 19-10 in the first match of the group, and the Swedish representative Jarfalla 21-3 in the second match.
