CHP Burdur Deputy İzzet Akbulut submitted a written parliamentary question to the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu regarding the transportation of the rails of Burdur Train Station.
Stating that Burdur Train Station, which was put into service in 1936, had been serving the surrounding provinces and metropolises with the Pamukkale Express and Göller Ekspres railway networks until very recently, the CHP deputy said, "With the developing technology, the system that cannot renew itself and the spread of new transportation networks, Burdur Train Station" "It reduced the demand for transportation, and since attractive programs could not be produced, it was first used for freight transportation and then it was reduced from the Directorate level to the Chieftaincy level," he said.
Deputy Akbulut said that since the current station building is located in the middle of the city, the train tracks divide the city into two halves on an east-west axis and said, “Since 2019, the ruling party officials had promised that the rails would be moved to the 1st OIZ. "The TCDD General Manager of the period stated that they were working on the transportation of the rails and that they saw the train rails as an obstacle to the development of Burdur at the meeting held with the members of the ruling party," he said.
Stating that the train tracks divide the city in the middle like the 'Berlin Wall', CHP Deputy Deputy said, "Our fellow citizens frequently complain to us that economic development and the opportunity to create alternative trade areas are prevented, therefore traffic flow, urbanization and city integrity are difficult to achieve and fatal accidents are caused. is at the top of the list,” he said.
