The cherry export target of 2023 million dollars in 200 has been exceeded. In the 2023 season until August 4, cherry exports reached 54 million dollars with an increase of 205 percent. According to the data of Aegean Exporters' Associations; In the 2023 season, until August 4, Turkey exported 75 thousand tons of cherries worth 205 million dollars. In the same period of last year, exports in Turkey were 57 thousand tons equivalent to 133 million dollars.

Turkish cherry appreciated by 54 percent

Aegean Exporters' Unions Coordinator Vice President Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Association President Hayrettin Plane said, “We are having a much more productive and fruitful cherry season compared to last year. Last year, we exported 57 thousand tons of cherry, this year we reached 75 thousand tons. In 2023, Turkish cherry exports increased by 32 percent on amount and 54 percent on value basis. We have reached 54 different export markets, and we have succeeded in increasing our exports to 34 countries and regions.” said.

“We are the first in world production”

Stating that Turkey ranks first in the world's production of cherries, Chairman Aircraft said, “Our Turkish cherries are highly appreciated in countries such as Hong Kong, Singapore and India, as well as in our traditional markets such as Germany and Russia. So far this season, we have exported 91 million dollars to our main markets, Germany, with an increase of 92 percent, and 41 million dollars to Russia. Austria ranked third in our exports with an increase of 686 percent, with 14 million dollars. Italy is a market where we experience an astronomical increase. Our exports to Italy increased to 7,7 million dollars, and to Norway we have an export of 11 million dollars with an 7,1 percent acceleration. We have also made great progress in the UK and Spain.” he said.
