Stating that regular maintenance must be done every year in order to increase the life and efficiency of air conditioners, Baymak Academy Director Mustafa Bozkurt warns consumers against the pirate authorized service trap. Bozkurt warns that a significant portion of the authorized services found on the search engine are pirates, and also gives important tips to consumers in order not to fall into the trap of pirates.

In these days when the whole world is experiencing the 'scorching' summer heat, the demand for air conditioners is increasing rapidly. In addition to the purchase of new air conditioners, the life expectancy of existing air conditioners increases, the probability of failure of air conditioners that are not regularly maintained and cleaned increases, their heating-cooling capacity decreases, their service life decreases and they consume more energy.

Stating that the use of air conditioners increases especially in the summer months, Baymak Academy Director Mustafa Bozkurt says that maintenance and cleaning have become much more important. “It is possible to improve our quality of life at the lowest cost. For this reason, our consumers should have their air conditioners regularly maintained,” says Bozkurt, “In this way, we extend the life of your device and ensure that it operates smoothly, efficiently and safely.”

Would you like to reduce your electricity bill when using air conditioner?

Since the use of air conditioners also increases energy consumption, it is possible to keep this cost at a minimum with some precautions. Bozkurt states that the first step is necessarily thermal insulation. Saying, “The heat loss from doors, windows and walls in a building without thermal insulation can reach 50 percent,” Bozkurt offers the following suggestions for cleaning and maintenance that consumers can do themselves: “First of all, all general cleaning should be done by checking the functional working conditions of the air conditioner. During the annual maintenance, the air ducts and the filters on these ducts should be removed and cleaned. Filter cleaning of the air conditioner should be done every two weeks. After the energy supply of the air conditioner is turned off, the air intake grille should be removed by pressing lightly on both sides. The air filter should be cleaned by sweeping or washing, dried thoroughly and replaced. Chemicals should not be used during filter cleaning.

“Pirate services do more harm than good”

Bozkurt stated that a significant portion of consumer complaints have been created by technical and authorized services in recent years and said, “Unfortunately, the number of pirated services is increasing day by day. For this reason, our consumers should definitely check whether the service they call is authorized or not.” Bozkurt gives the following tips on what to pay attention to in order to "not be a victim of pirate service":

  • You can ask the people you call to your home for maintenance or repair to show their identity cards and authorization documents showing that they are authorized. Make sure that these documents are non-destructive and up-to-date.
  • Check whether the incoming persons have professional qualification documents.
  • Check whether the incoming persons have the relevant company logos on their attire and the documents they use.
  • Before starting work, you must declare that you want an invoice, there cannot be an authorized service that cannot issue an invoice.
  • Do not allow paid replacement parts to buy old ones, even if they are old and unusable, those parts belong to you, and you have the right to have them diagnosed when you want.
  • Do not give tools or devices from your home to incoming people for device maintenance and repair, even if you are asked for it, do not forget that authorized services work with full equipment.
