Çiğli Mayor Utku Gümrükçü called on TCDD to bring the White Wagon used by Atatürk to Çiğli.
Çiğli Municipality continues its efforts to bring the White Wagon to Çiğli, which Atatürk used in his domestic trips from 1926 to 1937, and which was removed from its place in Alsancak at midnight by TCDD in 2020 and moved to a closed area. Mayor Utku Gümrükçü made a call to TCDD officials on Twitter regarding the White Wagon, which is closed to visitors.

In his post on his Twitter account, President Gumrukcu said, “We aspire to the White Wagon, the heirloom of our Ancestor, which you took from Izmir three years ago with a midnight operation, as we did three years ago. The removal of the White Wagon used by Atatürk is unacceptable. This wagon is the symbol of Atatürk's love for İzmir and the foundation of the Republic. In Çiğli, our city worthy of this trust with our railway past, we would like to bring the White Wagon together with all the citizens of İzmir in the 100th anniversary of our Republic. Whatever the cost, we are ready to bring this relic to our Çiğli! We will initiate the necessary initiatives in this regard. "The white wagon suits Çiğli," he said.
