The first international flight to Rize-Artvin Airport was carried out by Oman's SalamAir, Salamair airline company.

According to the statement made by the Rize Governor's Office, a water decoration ceremony was held at the airport for the first plane that landed at Rize-Artvin Airport in the evening with the first flight from Muscat, the capital of Oman, organized by SalamAir Airline Company. Passengers who got off the plane were greeted with flowers, treats and overalls.

Rize Deputy Governor Gülhani Ozan Sarı, who attended the ceremony held as the first regular international flight to the airport will begin, talked to SalamAir CEO Captain Mohamed Ahmed for a while, and gave information about the technical and physical equipment of the airport.

Acting Governor Gülhani Ozan Sarı, who made statements to the members of the press, said, “In recent years, we have been faced with a very serious interest towards the Eastern Black Sea region and our province Rize. This tourism activity and interest pushes us to take new steps and reveal new visions. At this point, there are two basic elements for meeting the increasing demand and sustainable tourism. One of them is to be accessible, the other is to provide the service that will make the guests experience quality moments. In this sense, we are living a very important and beautiful day for our Rize Artvin airport, which we opened in May last year. Approximately 1 million citizens have used our airport for more than a year.” said.

Stating that there are around 7 thousand air movements, Sarı said, “With this increasing demand to our city, both the number of our flights and the number of our guests will increase. Today, for the first time, our airport is on the agenda with an international scheduled and commercial flight. With flights scheduled twice a week from Oman, our airport will also be used for international flights from now on. I hope that the visits that started with 200 passengers today will continue exponentially. We find this very meaningful and special in terms of tourism in our city and the added value we will create for our country.” used the phrases.

Saying that they are happy to be in Rize, SalamAir CEO Captain Mohamed Ahmed said, “The launch of direct flights from Rize underlines SalamAir's commitment and innovative approach to establishing unprecedented links between the Sultanate of Oman and potential tourism markets. SalamAir is proud to be one of the first international airlines to connect Gulf Arab Council (GCC) countries and offer flights to Rize by seamlessly integrating the modern Muscat airport into the expanding SalamAir network. This new link will bridge Rize with various markets, including Oman and the Far East.” he said.

SalamAir Airline Company will operate direct flights from Muscat, the capital of Oman, 1 days a week between 5 July and 2 September.
