'Green Star Schools Campaign' Held for the 11th Time

The “Green Star Schools Campaign”, which was carried out in cooperation with Şişli Municipality and Şişli District National Education Directorate, was held for the 11th time this year.

With this project; It is aimed to increase the awareness of the students studying in 136 primary and secondary schools across the district about the environment. With the campaign that continued between December 1, 2022 and May 23, 2023, the schools that collected the most packaging, textiles, vegetable oil, batteries and electronic waste among primary, secondary and high schools in Şişli were awarded. The awards were presented to the schools at the “Green Star Schools Campaign Environment Day Event”. The ceremony held at Şişli Talat Paşa Primary School; Şişli Mayor Muammer Keskin, Şişli District National Education Director Sevgi Yücel, Şişli Talatpaşa Primary School Manager Ahmet Yılmaz, as well as Şişli Municipality Councilors, headmen, teachers and students of award-winning schools.

At the ceremony, Şişli Mayor Muammer Keskin, who started his speech by stating that children and young people have a very high environmental awareness and set an example for adults in this regard, also thanked Şişli District Directorate of National Education for their great efforts in the implementation of the project.

The school that collects the most electronic waste: Private Karagözyan Armenian Primary School

The school that collects the most vegetable waste oil: Marshal Fevzi Çakmak Primary School

The school that collects the most textile waste: Kuvayi Milliye Primary School

The school that collects the most waste batteries: Fevziye Mektepleri Vakfı Private Işık Secondary School

Schools were given awards such as computers, tablets, cleaning materials and sports equipment in return for the amount of waste they collected.

In addition, in the “Green Star Schools Campaign Environment Day Event”; Colorful activities such as clothing fashion show made of waste materials, recycling-themed exhibition, dance and folk dance show, and distribution of promotional materials were also held.
