The awards were given to the winning teams in the World Robot Olympiad Turkey 2023, organized at the Fair Izmir in cooperation with the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and the Science Heroes Association. Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer, stating that Izmir will host the World Robot Olympiad-WRO International Final in November next year, said, “We will be creating a great opportunity here to show your presence in the world in 2024.”

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyerattended the closing and award ceremony of the World Robot Olympiad Turkey 2023, organized by the Science Heroes Association with the support of İZFAŞ. In the program at the Fair Izmir, where the winning teams were given awards, Fatma Bezek, Deputy Chairman of the Science Heroes Association, Secretary General of the Association of Science Heroes Aslı Yurtseven, İZFAŞ General Manager Canan Karaosmanoğlu Buyer, association managers, representatives of the competing teams and their families took part.

I have come across so many beautiful projects in a short time here that we are truly proud of each of you. I embrace all our children and congratulate them with all my heart. Hopefully, in 2024, we will be creating a great opportunity to show your presence in the world together. It is good that you are here, it is good that you are here”.
President Soyer presented the award to TAKEV Private Secondary School, which won the first place in Open Classification Little Stars.

Drawing attention to the importance of the World Robot Olympiad, Deputy Chairman of the Science Heroes Association Prof. Dr. Gökhan Malkoç said, “We are very excited as always. We are also very happy to meet you physically, especially after the pandemic process. This program focuses not only on the present but also on the future. A journey that begins in early childhood will also contribute to competitive and productive entrepreneurs in accordance with today's world.” Malkoç thanked Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Soyer for his support.

Hilmi Güler Science and Art Center (ROBARMY1), third place Çakabey High School (6TH DIMENSION); Private Çakabey High School (ÇAKATECH) ranked first in the Regular Classification Youth. Private Altaş Science High School (SENIOR ALTAŞ) took the second place, and Tavşanlı 15 July Martyrs Science High School (ROBOTAV) took the third place.

First place in Open Classification Little Stars TAKEV Private Secondary School (TAKEV STARS), second place in Koldere Şehit Mehmet Burhan Secondary School (MLS JUNIOR), third place in Private Izbilim College Secondary School (İZTECH TEAM), Open Classification Youth-Stars first in Princes' DIY Workshop (PROVIDERS) ), Manisa TOBB Bülent Koşmaz Science High School (GODZİLLAROBOTICS) won the second place, and Şehzadeler DIY Workshop (CONNECTORS) won the third place.

Private Ordu Bahçeşehir Secondary School (INVICTUS) ranked first in Sports Classification, and Dr. M. Hilmi Güler Science and Art Center (SIRIUS-A), Private Ordu Final Science High School (DRAGUT) took the third place.

World Robot Olympiad (WRO)

The World Robot Olympiad (WRO) is organized in the form of a series of local and national tournaments held in different countries around the world, culminating in an international final with the participation of the classification winners of each participating country. With these tournaments, it is aimed to increase the interest of children and young people towards robotics and science.

The tournaments, which started with only 12 countries in the Asian continent, continue with the participation of approximately 90 countries. With the teams of 8-19 age group children and youth participating in the program, they work in the field of robotics in line with the theme determined every year.

The WRO program, attended by 85 children from more than 35 countries around the world, has been held in Turkey as the “World Robot Olympiad Turkey” since 500. The program is maintained by the Science Heroes Association in Turkey. 2014 children from 9 cities participated in the program, which has been carried out in 33 different classifications to date. The Turkish Final of the program is held in İzmir between 294-2016, at the Fair İzmir, in cooperation with the Metropolitan Municipality and İZFAŞ. The event was not held in 2023, when the effects of the pandemic were seen. In 2020, it was done online.
