According to the decision published in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, former CBRT Chairman Şahap Kavcıoğlu was appointed as the Chairman of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Board.
Regarding the decision, it was stated that “In accordance with Article 5411 of the Banking Law No. 84 and Articles 3, 2,3 and 7 of the Presidential Decree No. XNUMX, Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey Şahap Kavcıoğlu has been appointed as the Chairman of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Board”.
Who is Şahap Kavcıoğlu?
He was born on May 23, 1967 in Bayburt. He graduated from Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business Administration. After graduating from Istanbul University Accounting Institute as an Audit Specialist, he studied Business Administration at Hastings College. He completed his master's and doctorate at Marmara University Banking and Insurance Institute.
After serving as Assistant Inspector, Inspector, Branch Manager and Assistant General Manager at Esbank TAŞ, he worked as Assistant General Manager at Türkiye Halk Bankası A.Ş.
Kavcıoğlu, who was elected as the 1th Term AK Party Bayburt Deputy in the general elections of November 2015, 26, worked as a Member of the Plan and Budget Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and as a Member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (PAB) Turkish Group. After August 2018, Kavcıoğlu served as the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of T.VakıfBank TAO and the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Vakıf Gayrimenkul Yatırım Ortaklığı, an affiliate of T.VakıfBank TAO.
Kavcıoğlu, who is married and has three children, was appointed as the Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey on March 3, 19.
