Recep Tayyip Erdogan University (RTEU) will participate in the 2023 Antarctic Science Expedition with 1001 projects supported within the scope of TUBITAK 2 call "KUTUP-2024". Professor of Fisheries Faculty. Dr. Ertuğrul Ağırbaş and Assoc. Dr. 2 projects prepared by Ülgen Aytan were approved by TÜBİTAK within the scope of the 2023 “KUTUP-1001” call.

prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Ağırbaş's research project titled “Determination of Functional Group Ratios of Horsehoe Island-Antarctica Phytoplankton by Hplc Pigment Analysis and Indicator Pigment Composition” by Assoc. Dr. Ülgen Aytan's research project titled “Horsehoe Island-Antarctic Plastic Pollution, Sources and Risk Analysis” was supported within the scope of the 2023 call for “Pole-1001”.

There is fantastic news for our beautiful faculty for our university. 1001 of the 15 projects supported in the TÜBİTAK 2 Pole Projects call belong to the faculty members of RTEU Fisheries Faculty. “The data to be obtained is the first in this field”

Faculty of Fisheries, Department of Basic Sciences, Department of Marine Biology. Dr. Ertuğrul Ağırbaş said:

“Since the data to be obtained within the scope of the project is the first in this field, it will be open to the use of other scientists working/will work on this subject in the region and will create a database that will contribute to our country's polar research. In addition, the project results will contribute to the sustainable management of the Antarctic ecosystem and adaptation efforts to climate change under changing climate conditions.
