Mersin Metropolitan Municipality is holding the second Cilicia Ultra Marathon this year, the first of which was held last year. Organized and prepared by the Youth and Sports Services Department, the Kilikya Ultra Marathon will be at an international level this year and will take place in Kızkalesi on 9-10 June.
While the Cilicia Ultra Marathon aims to promote Mersin's cultural and natural heritage through sports; All participating athletes will come together in a race where history, nature and sports are intertwined. There will be a track in 7 different stages, 15, 33, 54 and 4 kilometers in the competition. In the marathon; The historical texture of the city, from the coast to the hills, will be introduced with the combination of culture, nature and sports tourism.

Emrullah Taşkın, Head of Youth and Sports Services Department, stated that Mersin Metropolitan Municipality has 2023 international organizations in 7 and that the first of them will start with the Kilikya Ultra Marathon, which will be held in Kızkalesi on June 10, and said: We are doing the second one at the international level this year. We will have a fair in Kızkalesi on June 9th. Races will be held at the same venue on June 10. The races consist of four different stages of 7, 15, 33 and 54 kilometers. Stating that the interest in the races is high and the number of participants has reached 500 so far, Taşkın said, “We expect the participation of a total of around 700-750 athletes. We invite all sports fans from Mersin to this event. On 9 and 10 June, a big event of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality will start in Kızkalesi and at the same time we will have started our other activities.
