The Ministry of Commerce reported that during the operations carried out at the Habur Customs Gate, 250 packs of smuggled cigarettes and 21 smuggled mobile phones were seized.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, the first of the operations carried out by the teams of the Habur Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate was carried out in a minibus that came from Iraq to enter Turkey. As a result of the risk analyzes made by the Customs Enforcement teams, the minibus was found suspicious and sent for x-ray scanning. As a result of the scan, suspicious density was detected at many points in the vehicle.

The teams, who started to search in detail, found 4 mobile phones hidden inside the fuse box of the vehicle, and 370 packs of illegal cigarettes hidden inside the fuse box and in the natural spaces of the headlights and bumpers.

In another operation carried out, Customs Enforcement teams evaluated a vehicle coming to enter the country as a suspect and followed it closely in the field. In the first call of the suspect vehicle, 2 illegal mobile phones and 280 packs of illegal cigarettes were detected.

Continuing the detailed search with x-ray scanning, the teams concentrated on the points where suspicious density was detected. As a result of the searches, 2 mobile phones hidden in the jacket inside the vehicle and a large number of cigarettes hidden in the vehicle bumper were caught. A total of 880 packs of smuggled cigarettes and 17 smuggled mobile phones were seized by the Customs Enforcement teams.

In 2 separate operations, 250 packs of smuggled cigarettes and 21 smuggled mobile phones were seized.

The investigation against the suspects continues before the Silopi Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
