China's Foreign Trade Reached 16.7 Trillion Yuan

In the first five months of the year, China's foreign trade volume increased by 4,7 percent on an annual basis and reached 16 trillion 770 billion yuan. According to the data released today by the General Administration of Customs, China's import and export volume reached 4,7 trillion 16 billion yuan in the January-May period, an increase of 770 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Among these, the export volume increased by 8,1 percent annually to 9 trillion 620 billion yuan, and the import volume increased by 0,5 percent to 7 trillion 150 billion yuan. According to the data, the trade volume between ASEAN and China in the first five months of the year increased by 9,9 percent on an annual basis, reaching 2 trillion 590 billion yuan. ASEAN remains China's largest trading partner.

The data also showed that China's trade with the European Union increased by 3,6 percent, its trade with countries along the Belt and Road route increased by 13,2 percent, and its trade with other members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) increased by 4,5 percent annually.
