Antalya Metropolitan Municipality was deemed worthy of the jury's special award by the Ministry of Transport at the 'Mind's Way Awards' with the 'Antalya Traffic Control Center and Intelligent Intersection Control Center' project, which it implemented to reduce traffic density.
Bringing together transportation and technology, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality continues to serve the city with its smart transportation applications. In this context, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, which applied to the Ministry of Transport, Turkey Intelligent Transportation Systems Association “The Way of Mind in Transportation Awards” competition, was entitled to receive the special jury award with its 'Antalya Traffic Control Center and Intelligent Intersection Control Center' project. Nurettin Tonguç, Head of the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Rail System Department, received the award at the ceremony held in Ankara.
Safe and Uninterrupted Transportation
Nurettin Tonguç expressed his satisfaction that the project was crowned with an award and said, “We participated in the 'Mind's Way Awards' competition, organized by the Ministry of Transport every year, with two projects. One was the 'Lost and Found Tracking System with Barcode Appliance'. The other was the 'Antalya Traffic Control Center and Intelligent Intersection Control Center' project. Within the scope of the project, we made 40 smart intersections. We have 61 remote access junctions. We were deemed worthy of the 2023 jury special award with our project. We brought it to Antalya. Smooth Traffic and Fuel Economy
With the 'Antalya Traffic Control Center and Intelligent Intersection Control Center' established by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Planning and Rail System Department, 101 signalized intersections are accessed and observations are made with moving and fisheye cameras. By identifying the negativities that will affect the traffic at the intersections, traffic jams are eliminated. The traffic operator personnel working at the center can monitor and intervene in the traffic flow with instant monitoring. In the center, detailed traffic data, signaling data, fault notifications, traffic density analysis, instant optimization and implementation of traffic signal times depending on these densities are also provided.
Instant Intervention to Traffic
Through the Traffic Control Center, 40 smart intersection systems and 61 remotely accessible intersections in the city center and districts can be monitored with 61 mobile (PTZ) cameras, 183 remote access cameras and 55 fisheye cameras, and instantaneous interventions can be made to relieve traffic in signaling when necessary. With the system, a density map in Antalya can be created and carbon emission and fuel savings rates can be seen.
