Operated by TAV Airports, Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport welcomed SunExpress's flights from Barcelona and Venice. Yesterday (June 4), 153 passengers from Barcelona arrived in Izmir, 54 passengers from Venice. SunExpress will fly between Izmir and Barcelona every Sunday until September 24. Izmir-Venice direct flights will continue until September 27, two days a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays.

TAV Ege General Manager Erkan Balcı said, “We are very happy to welcome the first direct flights from Barcelona and Venice to Izmir in five years. We are working with all our strength together with our stakeholders to increase the number of destinations with direct flights to İzmir and to promote our city. Currently, 32 airlines fly to 33 destinations in 58 countries on international lines, and four airlines fly to 20 destinations on domestic lines from our airport. We are ready to welcome our guests from all over the world in the summer season.”

Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport served 17 million 2 thousand 777 passengers in the first four months of the year, an increase of 462 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In the same period, international traffic increased by 32 percent.
