Students participating in the International Regeneron ISEF Science and Engineering Competition, representing Turkey, achieved a historic success. 3 projects supported by TÜBİTAK received the Regeneron ISEF grand award, while the other 3 projects were awarded special awards. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated the young people who received awards in the competition.
64 students who own 1307 projects from 1638 countries participated in the competition held in Dallas, USA.
Gaziantep Private Sanko College students Sude Naz Gülşen and Ekin Asian won both the first prize in the chemistry competition and the Sigma Xi (The Scientific Research Honor Society Third Physical Science Award) with their project "Smart Hydrogel Synthesis and Hydrogel Bracelet Design that Can Detect Foreign Substances in the Body and Beverages". received the special award.
Balıkesir Şehit Prof. Dr. Azra Demirkapılar and Aslı Ece Yılmaz from İlhan Varank Science and Art Center were awarded with their project “Obtaining Graphene Quantum Dots by Green Synthesis and Investigation of Drug Release Properties of Gqds-Calcium Alginate Films”.
İrem Duran, İbrahim Utku Derman and Kerem Arslan from Istanbul Atatürk Science High School, who won the third prize in Robotics and Intelligent Machines, were also deemed worthy of the ISEF Grand Prize for their “Teach Me My Alphabet” project.
Ahmet Kağan Altay from Kocaeli Science High School was deemed worthy of the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) special award for his “Four-Legged Unmanned Ground Vehicle Design” project.
Arda Yeşilyurt and Selin Yılmaz from İzmir Private Çakabey College won the TÜBİTAK Special Award in the field of Materials Science for their "Development of a Novel Bolus Material for Radiotherapy Applications" project.
