The official opening of Ankara Aerospace Technologies Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, Turkey's first vocational high school in the field of aviation and space technology, where the qualified human resources needed by the sector in the defense industry will be trained, was held with the participation of Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer attended the opening ceremony of Ankara Aerospace Technologies Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and the signing of the cooperation protocol with the Presidency of Defense Industries.

Minister Özer started his speech at the ceremony held at the Aviation and Space Technologies Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Ankara's Elmadağ district, expressing his condolences to the soldiers who were martyred in Şırnak, their families and the Turkish nation.

Emphasizing that Turkey's recent moves in the defense industry are closely followed by the Ministry of National Education and emphasizing that they came together for the opening of the only school in the field, Özer stated that successful students were prevented from going to vocational high schools with the interventions made during the 28 February process, and that these tutelage centers were only established after twelve years. Said it was removed.

Özer continued his words as follows: After 2012, all our ministers made great efforts to strengthen vocational education, I am grateful to all of them. What we did was something different: We did not ask for schools from the representatives of the sector. We said that we have a budget, we train human resources for the sector. That's why we don't want school and laboratory from you, we want only one thing; put your acquis in school. Let's update the curriculum together, plan the teachers' on-the-job professional development training together, plan the skills training of the students together, but we want one thing: Guaranteed employment as much as possible... We opened new areas in a fast and parallel way to Turkey's development.

Stating that no training has been given in the field of defense industry before, Özer reminded that they have developed a comprehensive model for the first time in cooperation with the Presidency of Defense Industries and said, “The first example of Turkey with employment guaranteed, including re-employment, including higher education, and the opportunity for experts in the field to attend the course. It was the first model to provide All of a sudden, the trend in vocational education, which alienated academically successful students during the February 28 process, was reversed. For the first time in the 1 percent success unit, vocational education started to accept students. That good example, the example of ASELSAN Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, has started to spread to other fields.” said.

Referring to the production capacity of vocational high schools within the scope of revolving funds, Minister Özer said, "The production capacity of vocational high schools was only 2018 million in 19-200, we closed it with 2022 billion in 2, our target in 2023 is 3 and a half billion." made its assessment.

Pointing out that vocational high schools are working on intellectual property, Özer said, “It takes package, benefit and model, brand, design registrations and commercializes them. Prior to these moves, the number of registered products purchased by the Ministry of National Education within the scope of intellectual property was 2.9 per year. In 2022, we registered 8 products and 300 of them were commercialized. Now our students do not just follow the curriculum, they follow the developments all over the world, they follow the labor market.” used his statements.

Expressing that Turkey is now becoming a country that can produce in the field of defense industry, Özer said that the school was named Özdemir Bayraktar Aeronautics and Space Technologies Vocational and Technical, as it worked under difficult conditions in order to carry out Turkey's first domestic and national production in the field of aviation and space. He said it would be Anatolian High School.

Referring to the point that vocational training centers have reached, Özer reminded that they have developed an attractive vocational training model for both employers and young people who will go to vocational training centers, and noted that in a short period of one year, the number of apprentices in vocational training centers in Turkey has reached 159 million 1 thousand from 400 thousand.

Expressing that they have developed a mechanism related to vocational education that they can find in the field, Minister Özer said, “Hopefully, as the Ministry of National Education, we will continue to exist in every new field in vocational education and strengthen the sector, as Turkey moves forward step by step towards the ideal of producing Turkey with these strong breakthroughs. Here is one of the most concrete examples of this at the point reached today… I wish our school to be beneficial in our country.” said.
