Turkish Army Cross Country Team Became Balkan Champion

Turkish soldiers finished first in the "Balkan Games-Half Marathon" event, which was held for the first time this year.

The Army Cross Country National Team consisting of Murat Emektar, Hüseyin Can, Mert Girmalegesse and Hakan Tazegül became the Balkan Champion in the Inter-Army Half Marathon at the CISM Balkan Half Marathon Championship held in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ordu Cross National Team became the CISM Balkan Half Marathon Champion at the CISM Balkan Half Marathon Championship held in Bosnia and Herzegovina/Sarajevo on 7 May 2023. In the competition, Murat Emektar (1:05,47) took the first place, Hüseyin Can (1:06.36) took the second place, Mert Girmalegese took the seventh place and Hakan Tazegül got the ninth place.

While Turkey became the Balkan Champion with 10 points, Romania took the second place and Serbia took the third place. 9 athletes from 593 countries participated in the championship.

Turkey's Sarajevo Embassy Military Attaché Colonel Mustafa Sıtkı Tatar also attended the teams' medal ceremony.

Fatih Çintimar, President of the Turkish Athletics Federation, congratulated the Inter-Army Balkan Champion TAF Sports Club and its coordinator Musa Altın.
