Aiming to be among the top 10 exporters of the world with an export of 5 billion dollars, the Turkish furniture industry introduced its new generation furniture to importers at the International Furniture Fair Modeko.

Aegean Furniture Paper and Forest Products Exporters' Association, which is the center of the sector in the region with its projects with high added value in Turkey, organized a Buying Delegation Organization from Saudi Arabia and Morocco, simultaneously with the fair, through the Ministry of Trade.

Ali Fuat Gürle, President of Aegean Furniture Paper and Forest Products Exporters' Association, said, “Our furniture exports in Turkey reached 2023 billion dollars in the first 4 months of 1,4. In 2022, we exported 16 million dollars to Morocco with an increase of 92 percent, and 720 million dollars to Saudi Arabia with an increase of 41 percent. The new period that started between Saudi Arabia and our country also reflects positively on our exports. On May 17 (first day of the fair), 7 foreign companies from Saudi Arabia and Morocco and nearly 40 Turkish furniture exporter companies held more than 200 bilateral business meetings. In line with the intense interest and feedback we received, we anticipate that we will increase our total exports to the two countries to 250 million dollars in the short term. On the other days, fair visits and company/facility visits were made. During the fair, information was given about our Association and our activities at the EIB info stand.” said.

President Gürle said, “We aim to increase the average export price of the furniture sector, which is 2,8 dollars in Turkey, to 6 dollars. For this reason, our Aegean Furniture Paper and Forest Products Exporters' Association organized the "Design Meeting Point" program in Modeko, alongside the "Buyer Committee Organization". At the Modeko Fair, the 3rd Game Changer Design Competition was introduced, and the winning designs of the previous year were exhibited. Our Association is a center in Turkey where all the projects in our sector are carried out. As the Aegean Furniture Paper and Forest Products Exporters' Association, we spend a lot of effort to solve both international and domestic problems for export. We ensure all coordination with our projects, events, procurement committees, sectoral trade delegations, and participation in national/international fairs. In addition, Modeko Fair is among the most important fairs of our region, and we continue to work to increase the success of our fair and the satisfaction of its participants in the coming years.” he said.

Youth and Sports Minister Mehmet Kasapoğlu, İzmir Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, TİM Deputy Chairman Ahmet Güleç, deputies, chambers and representatives of non-governmental organizations attended.
