In the competition organized by the Metropolitan Municipality as part of the Turkish Cuisine Week in Şanlıurfa, the ancient city of gastronomy, the participants almost cracked the palate with the “Urfa Grape Leaf Wrap” and Urfa Stuffed Isot Meals. President Beyazgül said that every Şanlıurfa person's palate is like a laboratory.
Under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's wife, Emine Erdoğan, a cooking competition was held at Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Governor Kemalettin Gazezoğlu Cultural Center as part of the Turkish Cuisine Week, which is celebrated with events held all over Turkey between 21 and 27 May.
The program was attended by Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeynel Abidin Beyazgül, Şanlıurfa Governor Salih Ayhan, Haliliye Mayor Mehmet Canpolat, Chief Ramazan Bingöl and many guests and citizens.
Within the scope of the competition where fierce competition took place, the contestants tried to enter the place with the dishes of “Urfa Grape Leaf Wrap” and Urfa Stuffed Isot, which are registered tastes unique to Şanlıurfa. In the event, where 100 kinds of food were presented and live performances, dishes such as Çiğköfte, İçli Köfte, Tirit, Şabut Fish Kebab, Döğmeç and local desserts such as Pendirli Halva, Şıllık, Hırtlevik were served.
In the program, which was held under the coordination of the Metropolitan Municipality Culture and Tourism Department in Şanlıurfa, which set out with the slogan "The World's Oldest Cuisine", the city's palate-crushing flavors came to life in the hands of women from Şanlıurfa. Cash prizes were awarded to the winners of the competition.

Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeynel Abidin Beyazgül also visited the stands where the meals were prepared and tasted the dishes served. Underlining that Şanlıurfa's gastronomy has a deep-rooted history, as well as its history, Mayor Beyazgül said, “It is a place where Şanlıurfa cuisine is offered very little because it is not possible to present Şanlıurfa cuisine. Şanlıurfa With a history of twelve thousand years, civilizations lived here for one and twelve years, passed and crossed paths here. It is possible to find traces of each civilization in such a city. We have accumulated these flavors for twelve thousand years. You can find hundreds of varieties of even a single type of dish in Şanlıurfa cuisine. A culture may be instilled here, there is a love, there is a unity from mother to son, there is unity in the family, and the kitchen is a very important place and the palate of every Şanlıurfa person is like a laboratory. The people of Şanlıurfa are very worried about the lack of anything and everyone can see that deficiency very well and follow it very well. There is no taste in this city with a history of twelve thousand years. In fact, Şanlıurfa is a very good gastronomy and tourism city. Imagine you meet in a historical place, accompanied by Şanlıurfa music and Şanlıurfa delicacies, and this is a very beautiful and relaxing thing. Today, the ladies prepared the same kind of food and they were embellished like flowers. Why does the table come with such beauties? This week is Turkish Cuisine Week, I would like to thank Ms. Emine Erdoğan from here. Because this is something that should happen, our Turkish cuisine should not be lost. From this ancient city, we can say that if you want to eat a dish unique to Şanlıurfa elsewhere and get the same taste, this is not possible. The products grown on these lands and the people of these lands need to be made, we welcome everyone to Şanlıurfa.” he spoke.
The awards were given to the winners of the competition by Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeynel Abidin Beyazgül, Şanlıurfa Governor and Head of All Restaurants and Tourism Association (TÜRES) Chef Ramazan Bingöl. Zehra Turgut came first, Saniye Akan came in second, and Ilkay Canbek came in third in the cooking competition.
A MEANINGFUL JEWEL FROM THE PRESIDENT BEYAZGÜL
Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeynel Abidin Beyazgül gave the good news to the other contestants who could not be ranked in his speech before the award presentation and stated that they would be given a Thousand TL honorable mention. The good news of President Beyazgül was applauded by the contestants for minutes.
President Beyazgül said, “We saw good work here, everyone did it very well. Let's reward some of them, let some of them be left, which is not very comfortable for us, we decided with our esteemed governor. We wanted to give a thousand Turkish Liras honorable mention. As a matter of fact, all this effort is not a great prize, but the greatest reward is your participation in this competition and promoting Şanlıurfa.” He made his statements.

Şanlıurfa Governor Salih Ayhan pointed out that Şanlıurfa's Music, Cuisine and Architecture should be protected and said, “There are no losers in such competitions. Even though it was not financially high, it was a very nice gesture to each of our competitors who participated in these programs in Şanlıurfa, which is the oldest cuisine in the world, due to the Turkish Cuisine Week. I would like to thank our President for this. We will continue to protect the architecture, music and cuisine of Şanlıurfa.”
TÜRES PRESIDENT BINGOL, “THE MOST DELICIOUS CUISINE IN WORLD HISTORY IS SANLIURFA”
Expressing that Şanlıurfa is the oldest, oldest and most delicious cuisine, TÜRES President Chef Ramazan Bingöl said, “History has proven us right. No one can say anything anymore. Göbeklitepe Karahantepe changed a lot in the name of human history.
