“Kim Mihri”, who won the Best Documentary Film award at the 59th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival National Documentary Film Competition, is getting ready to meet art lovers in İzmir. The documentary, which will be screened as part of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Re-Cinematheque program, will meet with the audience on May 21 at Izmir Art Hall and on May 24 at Seferihisar Cultural Center Cagan Irmak Hall.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues to bring art lovers together with award-winning works with the “Cinematheque Again” program. The documentary Kim Mihri, directed by Berna Gençalp and produced by Berat İlk, Yonca Ertürk and Berna Gençalp, will be screened at İzmir Sanat on Sunday, May 21 at 19.00, and on Wednesday, May 24 at 20.00, as part of the Cinematheque program. Municipality Seferihisar Cultural Center will meet with art lovers at Çağan Irmak Hall.

In addition, on Tuesday, May 23, at 14.00, director Berna Gençalp will organize a Red Frame event with younģ filmmakers at İzmir Cinema Office.

The director of the film, Berna Gençalp, about the life and international painting career of Mihri Rasim, one of Turkey's first female painters, traces Mihri in the cities of Istanbul, Rome, Paris and New York, where the painter spent her life. Thanks to the latest research on Mihri, who was born in Ottoman Istanbul, the rumors that shadowed the artist's life are replaced by concrete facts.

Documents in Turkish, Old Turkish, English, Italian and French, which were unearthed by valuable researchers, and many images from private and corporate collections, photographs and newspaper clippings were used in the film. Award-winning̈ actress Feride Çetin plays Painter Mihri in the mixed-media animations. Deniz Türkali and Ece Dizdar are also guest actors in the documentary. The documentary, which was produced over many years, was supported by the Turkish Ministry of Culture Cinema Support Fund, Antalya Film Forum, US Embassy in Ankara, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, The American Turkish Society Moon&Stars Project, Postbıyık, Filmarka, NicEye Group.
