In the operation carried out at the Kapıkule Customs Gate by the Ministry of Commerce Customs Enforcement teams, 7 electronic cigarettes worth 400 million 15 thousand liras and 400 food supplements were seized.
According to the statement made by the Ministry, as a result of the risk analyzes carried out by the Ministry of Commerce Customs Enforcement teams, a vehicle arriving at the Kapıkule Customs Gate to enter Turkey was deemed risky. Suspicious concentrations were detected in the vehicle, which was sent to the X-ray scanning system. Then the vehicle was taken to the search hangar to be searched in detail by the teams.
As a result of the physical search, it was determined that many electronic cigarettes and food supplements were placed in the parcels declared as clothing, toys and various furniture items in the vehicle.
As a result of the successful operation carried out by the Customs Enforcement teams, a total of 15 electronic cigarettes, which are prohibited to be imported and sold in Turkey, and 400 food supplements used by athletes for muscle building were seized.
It was determined that the market value of the seized contraband was approximately 7 million 400 thousand liras. The investigation into the incident continues before the Edirne Duty Public Prosecutor's Office.
